Running Live Lectures

Live classes run in Weblearnia's built-in lecture room. This guide covers everything you do as the teacher in charge of the session.

Joining

The Join button activates within the teacher join window, which opens earlier than the student window so you can prepare. Join from your Dashboard or Schedule. The room is full-screen for fewer distractions.

Participants are shown by their display name (your profile name, or email if no name is set).

In the room

The lecture room gives you:

  • Video and audio for everyone.
  • Screen sharing — share slides, a document, or an app.
  • In-room chat — messages are saved per message, so they survive closing/reopening the chat panel and even refreshing or rejoining. An unread badge appears on the chat control when the panel is closed.
  • Raise hand — students can raise their hand; you see who has a hand up.

The stage

When nobody is screen sharing, the stage focuses on the teacher or the active speaker. You can select the focus mode; your choice is shared with everyone in the room.

The lobby (admitting students)

Lectures can use a lobby: students wait until you admit them. From the room you can admit waiting participants or remove (kick) someone if needed. Admitting a student also records their attendance.

Recording (optional)

Recording is off by default and is your choice per session:

  • Use the in-room recording toggle to start or stop recording.
  • While recording, an accessible recording indicator is shown so everyone knows.
  • After the lecture, the recording is processed and becomes available on the lecture page (it can take a little time).

Recording may depend on your school's plan.

Teacher controls

  • Mute all — silence participants (useful for large groups).
  • Lower all hands.
  • End for all — ends the lecture for everyone.

When you end for all, when a student leaves, or when someone is removed, they are returned to the course page.

Ending the lecture

End the session with End for all (or simply leaving as the last teacher). Weblearnia then:

  • Marks the lecture completed.
  • Stops recording (if it was on) and prepares the recording.
  • Saves the chat history.

Attendance, the recording, chat, and any materials/notes are then available on the lecture page.

Tips

  • Join early to test your camera, microphone, and screen share before students arrive.
  • Decide on recording before you start, and tell students if the session is recorded.
  • Use mute all to manage noise in large group lectures, and the raised-hand queue to take questions in order.

Troubleshooting

  • No camera/mic: grant browser permissions and close other apps using the device.
  • Student stuck in lobby: admit them from the room.
  • Recording missing: confirm you toggled it on; allow processing time after the lecture.
